Consultation – Generation UK-India

The British Council is creating a new programme called Generation UK-India, which aims to give young people and young professionals from the UK the chance to experience India through a programme of study placements and immersion camps, teaching assistant roles and work internship placements. Publication – Welsh Government – Final Report of the Oxbridge Ambassador for Wales

The report was launched at an event held at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, with 40-50 people present. The report’s main recommendation is to create a national network of partnership hubs to help schools and colleges learn from each other, and to share resources. The Minister for Education Huw Lewis described the report as a ‘major turning point’, and that he ‘wholeheartedly accepts the recommendations’. He has directed a team of officials to start work setting up pilot hubs immediately, which should be functional by next academic year. 

Publication – Welsh Government – ESF footprint document

The Welsh Government has published its footprint document for European Social Fund (ESF) delivery 2014-2020 on its website. The document aims to provide a map of activities in relation to youth and adult employment and skills across Wales, and shows the link between proposed activities and the new ESF programme. The Welsh Government intends to use the document to avoid duplication, and identify gaps in provision. From September 2014, the document will be updated regularly with additional information and projects until 2020. 

Publication – QAA / HEA – Education for sustainable development guidance

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) and the Higher Education Academy (HEA) have jointly published guidance intended to assist UK higher education institutions seeking to incorporate education for sustainable development within the curricula. It aims to support students from any discipline to acquire knowledge, understanding and skills relevant to sustainable development.
