Universities Wales Weekly Wrap Up – 8 January 2016

International Higher Education Forum 2016, 1 March 2016

This annual forum is a chance to hear about the latest global developments and opportunities in international education as well as strategies to tackle and take advantage of them. Organised  jointly by Universities UK and the UK Higher Education International Unit, it will give delegates access to the most experienced sector professionals, government and partner organisations and senior overseas representatives. The event will take place in the Olympia Conference Centre, London on 1 March 2016.  More details to follow.

Welsh outward mobility event, 9 March 2016

The Go International Programme, in collaboration with Universities Wales and the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales, will be holding an event on 9 March at Cardiff Metropolitan University titled ‘Outward mobility in Wales: increasing participation and widening access’.

The event, primarily aimed at Welsh institutions, will introduce the Go International Programme and the UK Strategy for Outward Mobility in the Welsh context, bringing together outward mobility practitioners to discuss the latest research into outward mobility from Welsh institutions, share good practice, and look at Welsh mobility by activity, including study and work abroad placements.

Secondary ITT intake targets 2016/17

HEFCW published its 2016/17 intake targets for secondary initial teacher training on 8 January 2015 (see here).

The overall PGCSE secondary intake targets numbers (785) remain unchanged from 2015/16. The total sector target for secondary undergraduate (UG) intake remains unchanged from 2015/16 at 95, however following discussions with the sector we have only allocated 86. The remaining 9 numbers have been returned to Welsh Government for allocation through alternative routes such as the Graduate Teaching Programme.
