News – Diamond Review – update
On 19 February 2014, the Welsh Government released a statement on the Diamond Review, outlining that the Review of Higher Education Funding and Student Finance Arrangements would report in 2016, with a factual summary being released in 2015. The statement includes the membership of the panel, and the terms of reference. The statement is available on the Welsh Government’s website.

News – Public Service Workforce consultation response
HEW has submitted its response to the Welsh Government’s consultation on the Public Service Workforce (Wales) Bill. The submission is available on the HEW website.

News – NUS Wales elections 2014
The National Union of Students (NUS) Wales has announced the candidates running for the full time officer positions. Beth Button is running for President, and Joel Boissevain, Ebbi Ferguson, and Sam Hickman are running for Deputy President. The election results are due on 27 March 2014. Appointments – QAA Wales Committee

Professor Patricia Price, Pro Vice Chancellor, Student Experience and Academic Standards at Cardiff University will represent HEW on the Quality Assurance Agency Wales Committee from the Spring term.

Appointments – Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol Board of Directors
The Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol announced on 19 February 2014, that Andrew Green will be the new Chairperson of the Board of Directors. He will succeed the current Chairperson, Professor Merfyn Jones, on 1 April 2014. Andrew was the Librarian of the National Library of Wales between 1998 and his retirement last year. He is already a member of the Coleg’s Board of Directors and has chaired academic panels for the Coleg since its inception. Further details are available on the Coleg’s website.
