International Students and the UK immigration debate

Ahead of next year’s General Election, a report published by Higher Education Wales’ parent organisation, Universities UK, in conjunction with British Future, has measured the public’s views towards international students and immigration policy more generally.

Drawing on a nationally representative poll by ICM of 2,111 people, together with six deliberative workshops held across the country, the report has come to a number of interesting conclusions, including the finding that only a fifth of people think of international students as “immigrants”.
