Universities Move Forward As Fee Plans Approved

HIGHER Education Wales, the representative body for universities in Wales, today welcomed the approval of Fee Plans for Wales’s universities by the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales. The Fee Plans relate to the new graduate contribution regime being introduced from September 2012.

Responding to the announcement Amanda Wilkinson, the Director of Higher Education Wales, said:

“The approval of Fee Plans is good news for prospective students and for our universities. This has rightly been a genuinely challenging process for universities who have worked closely with their student bodies to come up with the best set of proposals. The revised Fee Plans published today clearly demonstrate that universities have put forward ambitious proposals to secure a step change in the student experience and in widening access to university.”

Amanda Wilkinson concluded:

“This has been a very testing but worthwhile process. Universities have emerged with stronger plans to deliver for students and prospective learners from backgrounds with little tradition of going to university. We can now move forward to putting these positive and far reaching plans into action.”
