Unis Wales presented on ‘Study in Wales’ at the British Universities International Liaison Association (BUILA) annual conference in Liverpool this week. The session was on ‘Regional Consortia – connecting to make an impact’ and it focussed on the different approaches to collaboration taken by Study in Scotland, Study in Wales and the London Universities International Partnership (LUIP). Welsh university representatives also met during the conference for an update on Unis Wales international activity.
UKCISA Student Experience Fund
The UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) has launched a new grant scheme for its members which will support UK education institutions to be more competitive in providing quality international student experiences. Announced at the UKCISA conference in Brighton, the grant scheme will support both pilot projects and research that will help to enhance the experience of international students at universities, colleges and student unions. 2015 cycle applicant figures – June deadline
UCAS published data relating to the June deadline for the 2015 cycle on 8 July 2015 (see here). The 30 June deadline is the final chance for applicants to submit a selection of university and college choices through the main scheme. Applications received after this date go into Clearing.
The number of applicants through UCAS increased by 2% overall. Applicants from Welsh domiciles increased marginally from 23,450 to 23,550 (+100, 0%), led in particular by an increase in applicants of 3% (+440) to England.
The number of applicants to providers in Wales increased by 1% overall compared to last year.
2013/14 UK Performance Indicators – Employment of Graduates
HESA published the above indicators on 2 July 2013 (see here). Overall across the UK, 93.2% of UK full-time first degree leavers were in employment and/or further study six months after graduating. The percentage has increased for the third consecutive time since 2010/11. Of the four UK countries, Wales continued to have the second highest percentage in employment or further study.
Publication of data on the Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education 2013/14 is due to be published on 23 July 2015.
